Time for your data to move?

Data is a precious thing and will last longer than the systems themselves

Unfortunately, migration, data flow, or conversion are often underestimated. Moving data may seem like a simple thing; it is just moving from a to b?

But it is rarely as simple as it sounds. Often there is an outdated underlying architecture that needs to be matched to the structure of the new system. Field values must be identified, matched to new values, analysis of the condition of existing data must be carried out to determine how it can be ported to the new system.

So how to proceed?

First of all, you need to determine the data quality of the old system. Many times the system owner of the old system states that the quality is good. Then you need to have in mind that it is considered “good” based on the old system premises. The new system might have completely different requirements on how the quality should be. So how would you determine what is needed to be done, in order to perform a migration?

We at Aptic have over the years both developed processes and tools in order to create a smooth workflow as possible. Our projects are always operated with the customer in close cooperation. We know that if our customer has full insight into what is done when it is done, why it is done, what results it will bring, then the risk of missing out on customers needs and their working methods decreases. We can then make a better analysis of what needs to be migrated, instead of filling the system with old history because you follow an inherited feeling of “good to have.”

IT Migration experts are leading the process

As migration experts, we are the one who will lead the process by asking relevant questions on the right occasions. Our role is not only technology-oriented but also educational and instructive. By giving the customer a strong sense of control and awareness of the different process steps, it helps us get right in the delivery.
